About Counselors Care
New York Mental Health Counselors Association is the professional organization representing the current and future mental health counselors of New York State.

Mental Health Counselors are licensed with the State of New York to provide clinical services to individuals, couples, families and groups.  Licensed Mental Health Counselors work in hospitals, clinics, state and private agencies, universities and in private practices.

Professionals who join Counselors Care are NYMHCA professional members in good standing.  They have fulfilled the licensure requirements of a minimum of a Master's degree in mental health counseling (or its equivalent), have accrued at least 3,000 post-graduate hours of clinical experience, and have taken and passed a licensure exam.

Many of our members have acquired expertise in treating addictions, anxiety disorders, depression, domestic violence and PTSD (post traumatic stress disorders).
